JLR 48V and DC-DC Faults: What Should Drivers Do After an Electrical Warning?
An electrical fault warning in a Land Rover or Jaguar should not automatically be treated as a battery replacement problem. In mild-hybrid electric vehicles, or MHEVs, the DC-DC converter also needs to be considered as part of the energy supply between the 48V and 12V systems. However, similar warnings can have different causes. A dashboard message alone does not identify the faulty component.
Why is the DC-DC issue back in the news?
JLR's US recall filing dated April 17, 2026, campaign 26V248, covered certain MHEV vehicles because of DC-DC converter failures. Its manufacturer campaign numbers were D126 and H575. A further filing dated September 17, 2026, campaign 26V599 / E008, extended coverage to additional vehicles. The September report addresses electrical load balancing during high demand and a software issue that can affect operation at start-up under certain circumstances.
The September US campaign covers 23,677 vehicles. The listed ranges include certain 2019–2024 Range Rover Sport; 2020–2024 Range Rover, Evoque, Discovery Sport and Defender; and 2021–2024 Velar, Discovery, Jaguar E-PACE and F-PACE MHEVs. Not every vehicle within those model-year ranges is affected.
Which warning requires immediate attention?
The official report describes the red message “Stop Safely Electrical Fault Detected”. Converter failure can stop the 12V system from charging. Continuing to drive despite the warning can eventually lead to loss of propulsion and exterior lighting. Stop safely, follow the vehicle handbook and contact roadside assistance. Clearing the warning and continuing the journey is not a repair.
Why might battery replacement be insufficient?
Battery condition, electrical connections, charging behaviour, fault records and relevant software levels need to be assessed together. Clearing diagnostic codes before investigation can make it harder to understand how the fault occurred.
Before contacting a workshop, note the date, mileage and whether the warning appeared at start-up or during driving. A photograph of the message may help, but take it only after the vehicle has stopped safely.
How should owners in Türkiye check campaign coverage?
A US recall announcement does not automatically mean your Turkish-market vehicle is included. Contact an authorised Land Rover or Jaguar service centre with your VIN to confirm open campaigns and the applicable procedure. NHTSA's lookup does not show every campaign affecting international vehicles.
The E008 report describes a software update, but coverage and remedy availability in Türkiye must be confirmed separately for the individual vehicle.
